Straight Out The Mud: BBall Paul wins both G League MVP and Rookie of the Year

Following the Delaware Blue Coat’s dominant run in the G-League bubble, forward Paul Reed has brought home some hardware. Reed has won both the G-League MVP and Rookie of the Year for the 2021 season in dominant fashion. The Coats had their best season ever with Reed, reaching the G-League Finals for the first time.
In 15 games this season, Reed averaged over 22 points per game with almost 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Paul’s offense was unstoppable, shooting over 44% from deep, and was an athletic monster in the paint. Throughout the bubble, Reed was named player of the week and easily considered one of the league’s best players.
Coats’ head coach Connor Johnson has done a tremendous job on coaching and developing the six-foot-nine big. Alongside Reed, fellow Sixers Isaiah Joe and Rayjon Tucker did a fantastic job in Florida, continuing the incredible pipeline from Delaware to Philly.
During this short span, Paul has become a favorite amongst Sixers fans and can hopefully continue to grow immensely with the 76ers. Before today, the Blue-Coats have never had an MVP in their eight-year history. Reed was taken 58th in the 2020 NBA Draft and looks to be one of the biggest hidden gems so far.
