Jean Segura exits Tuesday night game with injury, MRI scheduled today

As if last night’s 10-7 loss couldn’t get any worse, the Phillies lost their leading hitter against the Giants. Jean Segura injured his right quadriceps running out a ground ball that ended the second inning in last night’s game. Segura was tended to by a team athletic trainer and left the field immediately. He is scheduled to have an MRI today.
The Phillies leading hitter entered last night’s game batting .345 and Girardi had slid him up in the lineup with Rhys Hoskins scheduled to get the night off. Didi Gregorius has missed two games in a row because of right elbow inflammation. The Phillies have been utilizing Nick Maton at shortstop without Didi. Maton is solid defensively and had a triple last night to score fellow youngster Mickey Moniak to give the Phillies an early lead.
The Phillies are back in action today at 1:05pm. Segura is certainly out and we’ll await today’s lineup to see if Didi Gregorius is healthy enough to play.
