Weekend Rips: Sixers seek revenge, Phillies get Rocky Mountain High

Well, everyone, we made it through an especially trying week this time around. On a personal note, I am unsure how I’m even here writing this as I’m currently quitting nicotine, out of coffee, and had to watch the Sixers lose three in a row. Mix that in with Gabe Kapler’s return to Philadelphia with pictures of him in leopard thongs burnt into my head, and it’s truly a miracle I’m still standing, albeit with an unappealing slouch. Sorry ladies.
This week may have beaten us all down like we owed it money. TLL was in shambles. At one point, Jack Connell was calling the shots while Drew and Vic were yelling at everyone to start writing and stop flirting in our TLL group chat. We started writing again, the flirting is none of your business, and The Liberty Line is on pace for a record breaking month. That being said, fret not my fellow Philadelphians, the weekend is finally here. So go ahead and stop worrying about work, order out for dinner tonight, and stop editing that manifesto. It’s time to let it rip.
Sixers
Like I said in my stupid intro, the Sixers lost three in a row this week. Despite some brutal losses to the Golden Steph Warriors, Suns, and Bucks, I’m not ready to panic quite yet. Sixers Twitter would say otherwise, but I hate 95% of those people, and their opinions mean nothing to me. The Sixers are looking to avoid total embarrassment this week against Milwaukee on Saturday at 3:30 PM. Without Ben Simmons, Giannis’ kryptonite, the outlook is not pretty for the Sixers. However, if Shake Milton can build off his performance Thursday and George Hill can shake the rust off, I’m not too worried. We won’t be full-strength, but at least we’ll have had a day’s rest.
Catch the game on ESPN and check back with us tomorrow for a full preview.
Phillies
After an outrageously stupid 2-1 series loss at CBP to Gabe Kapler’s Giants, the Phillies look to regroup as they head out west to face the Colorado Rockies. Funnily enough, it feels like every game I went to as a kid was against the Rockies… we never did win one of those. Of course, these are different times. The Rockies are not a good baseball team in any way, so there’s little standing in the way of a Phillies sweep other than home field advantage. Granted, that’s never stopped the Phil’s before. Hell, VINCE VELASQUEZ is pitching tonight, so we’ll see how that goes.
On a positive note, be sure to keep an eye on Mickey Moniak in center field and Nick Maton at shortstop. These young guys have been rather impressive considering the circumstances. A
There’s a world of matchups to explore for this series, so check out the preview here. Be sure to bet the Phils this weekend. I know we are.
Flyers…?
Okay I know Vic and Drew don’t really read these when they edit, so I’m using the Flyers section as an SOS. Like I sad earlier, things are getting really dark over here at TLL. Shirt sales are down and people (myself included) aren’t writing enough. We suspect Drew and Vic have resorted to executing the staff member with the fewest articles written. Needless to say, I haven’t heard from my friend and co-host Sam Glavin since our last podcast episode. When Drew popped in to our stream Tuesday night, I could feel the energy become… almost sinister. Please, dear God, buy a shirt.
Hahahha the Flyers suck lol!!
Liberty Line Radio – Draft Week Special
Our fearless leader, Honorable Chairman and Dictator for Life Drew Smith, and his buddies have a great podcast called The Misery Report. This week, they are off the airwaves, possibly because they recorded an hour long podcast about government conspiracies, aliens, and COVID-19, but no official word there. Instead, TMR is handing the keys over to our other fearless leader, Victor Williams and Steven Conrad Jr, with special guest Jeff Kerr. They’ve got a very special NFL Draft episode coming up. You can hear it aired on Fox Sports The Gambler from 5 – 6 pm this Saturday. Will Howie shoot the franchise in the foot? What will our first round pick’s all-time Rock Paper Scissors record be? Find out on Liberty Line Radio.
