CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTERFINAL LEG 2 PREVIEW: PHILADELPHIA UNION VS ATLANTA UNITED

The Philadelphia Union takes the field tonight in Champions League action with the hopes of creating another historic moment for the club. Up 3-0 in the first leg, the Union looks to advance to the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League. In the first leg, the Union had a great 3-0 victory in Atlanta led by Andre Blake and Kacper Przybylko.
A very good defensive game is what the Union should be aiming for. All the Union have to do is not allow three goals tonight to advance to the next round. It will be a very hard task for Atlanta United to score three goals on the road. Only one team has ever overcome a three-goal deficit in CONCACAF Champions League play history. The winner after this match will go on to face the winner of Club America vs Portland Timbers. They are currently in a 1-1 draw headed into leg two. The semi-finals of this tournament don’t take place until August, so the Union should be able to have full focus on the MLS after a disappointing start.

Key to the Game
The big key to this game is the Union defensive line and goalie Andre Blake. If the Union’s defense plays well, they should be able to advance to the next round with ease. Jack Elliott and Jakob Glesnes have been inconsistent on the line so keep an eye on their play to start the game. However, even if their poor play continues they have quite the goalie behind them. Andre Blake has had an incredible start to the 2021 season and I expect it to continue in a huge game tonight.
Moneyline:
- Philadelphia Union: +115
- Atlanta United: +200
- Draw: +240
I personally am staying away from the money line tonight, but if I had to pick I would lean towards a Draw or Atlanta win. Important to note that if you are betting on this game you are betting on the game itself, not the aggregate. This is why I would lean towards a draw or Atlanta winning the game but not scoring enough to advance to the next round. A very defensive game from the Union makes it hard for me to bet on them to win tonight.
