Eagles trying out former 2nd-round defensive back

The Eagles are reportedly trying out free-agent defensive back Obi Melifonwu during their rookie minicamp this weekend. Melifonwu was selected in the second round of the draft back in 2017 by the Raiders. The 27-year-old comes in at s 6’4”, 226 pounds and was an incredible athlete coming out of college. Melinfonwu ran a 4.40 40-yard dash, had a 44” vertical jump, and an 11-foot-9 inch broad jump.
A number of lower-body injuries have kept him from finding a permanent home, having previous stints in New England & San Francisco before being waived. Melinfonwu has ten total tackles for his career. His brother, Ifeatu Melifonwu, was selected in the third round of this year’s draft.
Um, UConn DB Obi Melifonwu just jumped 11’9″ in the broad jump, the second highest since 2003. Wow. pic.twitter.com/VnSNs5k2cg
