Union Win 1-0 and Look Forward to a Much Needed Break

The Philadelphia Union took the field tonight at home as the rival New York Red Bulls came to town. The Union were playing their ninth game in the past 22 days and had to face a fresh Red Bull team coming off of a week’s rest. A win would put the Union back towards the top of the table after a shaky start to their 2021 MLS season.
The game started off on a scary note as star goalie Andre Blake went down with an injury after colliding with center-back Jack Elliot, and needed to be checked by trainers. Both were able to get up and continue playing. In the ninth minute, Corey Burke scored the only goal of the game assisted on a beautiful pass from Jamiro Montiero.
The Red Bulls had their best opportunity at a goal in the 58th minute but no one was able to get a shot on a completely open net.
With the win, the Union are now in a five-way tie for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Union take the field again on May 23rd, after taking a much-needed break from play.
