Phillies Top Prospect Mick Abel Dazzles in Clearwater
Happy Monday morning! The Phillies got their asses kicked over the weekend and I was feeling pretty down about our pitching. That is until I stumbled upon the Phillies top prospect and 2020 1st round pick Mick Abel looking like a potential ace down in Clearwater.
On Sunday his pitching line was 2.1 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. Although Abel had trouble finding the strike zone his velocity was consistently in the high 90’s for a 19-year-old.
If everything goes according to plan we still likely wont see Abel suiting up in South Philly until 2024. But I am already dreaming of Abel slotting in behind Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler. It helps me sleep after a weekend of watching Chase Anderson and Vinny Velo.
