Philadelphia Union Sign Jim Curtin to a Multi-Year Contract Extension

The Philadelphia Union have announced today that they have signed head coach Jim Curtin to a multi-year contract extension. Curtin is the second-longest tenured coach in the MLS as he is currently in his 8th season with the Union. Starting in 2014, Curtin has led the Union to historic achievements and records. Last year, the Union won their first-ever community shield with an overall record of 14-4-5. Curtin won the 2020 MLS coach of the year following this season which was the first time a Union coach won this award.

He has led this team to new heights year after year, “Jim remains committed and passionate about winning trophies as well as the development of our young players. Under his coaching, the club has broken multiple records, won their first trophy, and has seen two young Homegrown players transfer to Europe and secure regular USMNT appearances. He is an intelligent leader who continues to strive for more and we are delighted to extend his contract.”

Along with his MLS achievements, most recently Curtin has led the Union in their first-ever CONCACAF Champions League play. With victories over Costa Rican giant Deportivo Saprissa and Atlanta United FC, they are entering the semi-finals. In all five playoff appearances, Jim Curtin has been in charge.
