Salt in the wound: Nick Pivetta throws shade at Phillies

Nick Pivetta was a terrible pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. Fortunately for him, he was able to turn things around after being traded to the Boston Red Sox last season.
During his time in Philadelphia, Pivetta had a 5.50 ERA, 4.64 FIP, and 421 strikeouts over 396 1/3 innings between 2017-2020. Since joining the Red Sox he has a 3.76 ERA, 3.89 FIP, and 107 strikeouts over 91 innings between 2020-2021.
Pivetta was mic’d up during last night’s Red Sox game and had this to say about the Philadelphia Phillies:
Two Major Nick Pivetta Quotes Here:
“I think what it is is that these guys know how to win.”
“The biggest difference is I learned how to be a part of a baseball club that has an understanding of how to win.”
It’s hard to admit that Nick Pivetta is right, but there’s no doubt in my mind that he is. Even though he was a bad pitcher for the Phillies, the overall message about the Philadelphia Phillies organization certainly rings true. Pivetta’s comments couldn’t come at a more miserable time for the Phillies, who continue to blow games and now have a major league leading 20 blown saves on the season.

[…] know what Nick said against the Phillies, he bashed them with a comment or two that was reported in a blog here. And yes, we had Pivetta and stuck with him far too long in my opinion. Plus the fact that Pivetta […]
