Phillies select two more outfielders to close out day two of 2021 MLB Draft

The Phillies finished off day two of the 2021 MLB Draft by selecting two more outfielders to bolster their farm system. Philadelphia has selected four outfielders today and six pitchers through the first ten rounds. After taking Ethan Wilson and Jordan Viars in the second and third rounds, the Phillies selected Gavin Tonkel and Logan Cerny to finish off the night.
Tonkel is a 6’2 outfielder from Heritage, California, and is known for his speed and is currently committed to Sacramento State. Prep Baseball Report has Gavin ranked as the 7th best outfielder in California and 46th overall in the state.
The final draft pick of the night for Philadelphia was Logan Cerny from Troy University. Cerny was an All-Sunbelt first-team nominee in 2021, hitting 15 home runs for the Trojans. According to some is being considered the steal of the draft through ten rounds.
Philadelphia desperately needed help in the outfield and bullpen and made them their entire focus to begin the 2021 MLB Draft. Ten more prospects will hear their names called for the Phillies when Day Three of the MLB Draft kicks off tomorrow at noon.
