Phillies Roster Moves and Today’s Game One Starting Lineup vs Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies are BACK. After entering the All-Star break playing their best baseball of the season, the Phillies now welcome the Miami Marlins to town for a four game series. That series will start today at 4:05pm for game one of a doubleheader. Matt Moore will be on the mound for the Phillies.
Andrew McCutchen and JT Realmuto will get to rest game one, as the Phillies try to manage their lineup for two games today. Alec Bohm will remain out of the lineup on COVID protocol. Replacing them, will be Brad Miller in left field, Nick Maton at third base, and Andrew Knapp behind the plate for the Phillies.
Phillies Lineup Game One:
Phillies Roster Moves
LHP Bailey Falter will be reinstated from the COVID-related IL and Damon Jones will be optioned back to Triple A Lehigh Valley. Matt Vierling will join the Phillies as the 27th man for the doubleheader today from Lehigh Valley. The Phillies are still without Alec Bohm, Aaron Nola, and Connor Brogdon who all remain on the COVID-related IL.
Aaron Nola COVID Update and Expected Return >>
Matt Moore vs Sandy Alcantara at 4:05pm. Alcantara is 1-1 in two starts against the Phillies this season and has only allowed two earned runs in 14 innings of work. The Phillies haven’t been able to hit Alcantara at all, batting a collective .091 with a .348 OPS against him this year.
Not the greatest lineup but this is what we have to get things rolling for the second half of the 2021 MLB season. The Phillies are 3.5 games out of first place and at an even .500. It would be HUGE to come out and lay a beating on a bad Marlins team, but as we all know, that’s not an easy task for the Phillies.
