76ers bring in Iowa’s Luka Garza for a workout

One of the biggest stars in college basketball just paid a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers. Yesterday, Iowa’s Luka Garza conducted a workout with the 76ers ahead of next week’s 2021 NBA Draft. Garza is the 2021 National Player of the Year and has been unanimously voted to the All American team two seasons in a row.
The Hawkeyes center averaged over 24 points per game this season on 55% shooting while pulling in nine rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Currently, Luka Garza is projected to go anywhere from the late first to sometime in the second round. Philadelphia owns the 28th and 50th selections in the NBA Draft.
Daryl Morey and the 76ers have already had some other prospects work out for the 76ers, like Oklahoma’s Austin Reaves. If the 76ers lose Dwight Howard in free agency, they will need to find a valuable backup big for Joel Embiid that can give him as much rest as possible. While he had a dominant NCAA career, many analysts don’t think Garza will reach the same success in the NBA.
