Phillies trade for Tyler Anderson falls through due to medical blunder

Earlier today, rumors were flying around in regards to Tyler Anderson, with everything leading up to him becoming the newest Philadelphia Phillie. The deal was everything but finalized, until one of Cristian Hernandez and Abrahan Gutierrez suffered a medical issue, which we are assuming was a failed physical. After hours of confusion, it was announced that Tyler Anderson will not be coming to Philadelphia, and will be signing with the Seattle Mariners instead.
It is tough to really put the blame on anybody for this trade falling through, due to the lack of knowledge of what really happened. Tyler Anderson was never the flashiest name out on the table to get, but he was going to give you some solid back of the rotation innings, something this team is currently lacking.
The Mariners came in and got him instead, after a wild day in Seattle. They traded Kendall Graveman to their division rival, the Houston Astros, and the team was anything but happy about it. You can see some of the stuff they said below. It was not pretty.
The hunt for a late in the rotation starting pitcher is still on, with Anderson now off the table. Pirates pitchers have been a big eye opener for the Phillies today, with reports flying around about the Phillies interest in Pittsburgh’s reliever Richard Rodriguez.
Keep an eye out for all things MLB Trade Deadline, because we are in for a wild last few days. Coming off a 6-4 loss, the Phillies continue their four game series with the Nationals Wednesday night at 7:05, with Zack Wheeler getting the ball for the Phils.
