76ers draft Tennessee guard Jaden Springer with the 28th pick

After several rumors ahead of the NBA draft that the 76ers would be moving the 28th pick, Daryl Morey stays pat and selects Jaden Springer from the University of Tennessee. Springer is a 6’4 18-year-old guard, one of the youngest players in the NBA Draft, along with one of the higher ceilings.
Springer is best known for his aggressive playstyle and being a defensive-minded guard, adding to the Sixers’ elite perimeter defense. On the offensive end, Springer shot 43% from three, but on only one attempt per game while also shooting 81% from the free-throw line.Â
Analysts across the league had Jaden Springer ranked much higher than the 28th pick, with Jonathan Wasserman ranking him 10th. During the 2020/2021 season, Springer led the Volunteers in points with a little over 12 points per game.
Many say his jump shot isn’t perfect. Still, with his incredible defensive potential and being so young, Jaden will have a lot of time to develop his game in Philadelphia, The 76ers aren’t done yet, owning the 50th, and 53rd picks later on tonight.
