76ers select Serbian big man Filip Petrusev with 50th pick

After taking Jaden Springer earlier tonight, the 76ers grab Serbian big man Filip Petrusev with the 50th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Petrusev played for Gonzaga for two seasons, having great success with the Bulldogs before heading overseas to play in the Adriatic League for Mega Basket.
During his one season with Mega Basket, Filip won MVP, averaging over 23 points and seven rebounds. While he is viewed mainly as an insider scorer, Petrusev has shown flashes of being able to score beyond the arc. While he is decent across the board, Filip Petrusev doesn’t excel at any particular part of his game.
The 76ers are in desperate need of some help at the backup center slot, especially with Dwight Howard currently being a free agent. Although he is still under contract with Mega Basket, Petrusev reportedly wishes to come over to the NBA as soon as possible. Petrusev’s club Mega Basket has a long list of NBA big men who got their careers started there including Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac, and Goga Bitadze.
