Report: Eagles signing former 2nd-round defensive back

The Eagles are reportedly signing free-agent defensive back Obi Melifonwu, per his agent Sean Stellato.

Melifonwu was brought in by the team for a workout back in May and was selected in the second round of the 2017 draft by the Raiders.

The 27-year-old comes in at s 6โ€™4โ€, 226 pounds and was an incredible athlete coming out of college. Melinfonwu ran a 4.40 40-yard dash, had a 44โ€ vertical jump, and an 11-foot-9 inch broad jump.

A number of lower-body injuries have kept him from finding a permanent home, having previous stints in New England & San Francisco before being waived. Melinfonwu has ten total tackles for his career. His brother, Ifeatu Melifonwu, was selected in the third round of this yearโ€™s draft.
