Barstool Sports to open a Philadelphia-based sports bar in late 2021

Earlier this week, Penn National Gaming, one of the stakeholders in Barstool Sports, announced that a Barstool Sports branded sports bar is coming to Philadelphia in late 2021. Penn CEO Jay Snowden announced this during their second-quarter earnings report. Penn National didn’t specify where exactly the sports bar would be located.
Barstool kicked off their sportsbook in Philadelphia last year since Penn National Gaming is located in Wyomissing. In September, Dave Portnoy and several other Barstool employees camped out in Philly to promote the app. There are a few other locations planned to debut alongside Philadelphia later this year, including a Chicago location.
Alongside the bar, Penn National is also looking to debut a live dealer in New Jersey and a Barstool-branded online table and slot games around the release of the Barstool Sports Bar. Portnoy and Philly have a love-hate relationship, but if the bar is located around the stadiums like Xfinity Live!, it’ll be sure to draw massive crowds on game day.
