2K dishes out embarrassing ratings to Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle

After 2K was very kind in their rating for Joel Embiid yesterday, they responded shortly after with horrible ratings for Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle. 2K ranked the top ten Australians in 2K22, and while Ben was ranked first, he was gifted with a measly 84 overall. For comparison, Ben Simmons was an 87 in 2K21 and 2K20.
Following a horrendous postseason, it makes sense why Ben Simmons would take a step back, but this feels like a bit too much. There aren’t many ratings released for players around the same caliber as Ben, so it’s tough to make a legitimate debate just yet. While you could argue Ben’s rating is just, Matisse Thybulle’s overall is completely unacceptable.
Thybulle was ranked the 6th best Australian in 2K22 with a 75 overall. For comparison, Maxi Kleber is a 76, while Marc Gasol and the Hernangomez brothers are both a 75. Matisse was a 75 in 2K21, so there is no change from last season, but there should’ve been a bump due to his elite defensive ability. Thybulle was a dominant force on defense this past season, earning second-team All Defense honors.
More ratings are expected to drop in the coming days, with Tobias Harris being the most notable name left. There is no word on Seth Curry’s full rating just yet, but he has a 90 overall three-point shot, the third-best in the game behind his brother, Steph, and Klay Thompson.
