Only one Phillies player lands on the new MLB Top 100 Prospects List

The Phillies are playing some really bad baseball. They are 2-7 over their last nine games and just got swept by a terrible Arizona Diamondbacks team. Tonight, they will open up a three game series against the San Diego Padres. They are currently in second place in the National League East, four games behind the first place Atlanta Braves. The Padres, have also been playing terrible baseball and made the Wild Card interesting yet again. Of course, the Phillies couldn’t capitalize on this over the past week and sit five games behind the last Wild Card spot held by the Padres.
To throw some salt in the wound, a new MLB Top 100 Prospect list was released this week and to say that the Phillies aren’t represented very well would be an understatement.
The Phillies No. 1 prospect Mick Abel is the only player in the Phillies organization to crack the MLB Top 100 list. Abel checks in at No. 70 on the list. Abel was selected 15th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft. He is 1-3 with a 4.43 ERA in 14 starts this season in Low-A Clearwater. Abel has not pitched since July 21st due to a sore shoulder and his return to the mound remains unclear, but the Phillies don’t think it’s a serious injury.
As for the Phillies Top 30 Prospect List, here are the updated rankings:
- Mick Abel
- Bryson Stott
- Andrew Painter
- Hans Crouse
