RING IT: Phillies Dominate Diamondbacks in 7-0 Win

The Phillies beat the Diamondbacks on Saturday night in dominant fashion, with a 7-0 win. Kyle Gibson did his job, the offense was alive, and everything seemed to click for the Fightin’s last night. The Phillies have now won back to back games, and sit 4.5 games behind the Braves in the NL East.
The Phillies got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first. The offense has been a major struggle as of late, but not last night. Bryce Harper would hit a sacrifice fly to score Odubel Herrera to make it a 1-0 game. Didi Gregorious would then double to left, scoring Segura to move the Phillies lead to two.
Odubel Herrera would continue his dominant August last night. A double in the first inning would start off his night, which would then lead to a home run in the third. But Jean Segura joined in on the fun, as the Phils went back to back to make it a 4-0 ballgame.
Kyle Gibson would continue his solid performances with another one last night. Gibson would go six innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out three batters. “Gibby” has been a perfect 4th starter for this team since joining the team at the trade deadline. Pitching depth was a concerning issue for the team this year, but it seems like they found their fourth guy for at least the rest of the year.
The Phils had a 4-0 lead all the way til the bottom of the 8th. Gregorious would double once again, Brad Miller would hit an RBI single, and Rafael Marchan would hit a fielders choice, all to make it a 7-0 game.
Jose Alvarado, Hector Neris, and Sam Coonrod would get the job done in the bullpen, each throwing one inning of scoreless ball. Sam Coonrod would allow one hit in the 9th, but would close the game out with no problem.
The Phillies are in need of a run, and with nothing going in their favor as of recent, maybe now is the time. They won their second game in a row last night, beating the Diamondbacks 7-0. Ranger Suarez will take the hill today at 1:05, going up against Madison Bumgarner in the series finale.
