Nick Sirianni names Eagles starting quarterback

In a move that shocked nobody, Nick Sirianni officially announced this afternoon that Jalen Hurts is the Eagles’ starting quarterback this upcoming season. Hurts has been the obvious choice but Nick Sirianni not saying anything yet caused some controversy amongst the city.

Regardless, starters aren’t typically announced until now, but some assumed the reason for it was a potential Deshaun Watson trade. According to reports from a few days ago, Watson reportedly would not accept a trade to the Eagles, ending all speculation on that front.

Philly has a full QB room ahead of today’s roster cuts, with both Joe Flacco and Gardner Minshew backing up the Eagles’ new starter. Now that the preseason is over, we are just under two weeks away from the Eagles season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on September 12th.

Update:

In other news that shocks nobody, Jordan Mailata has also been named the starting left tackle for the Eagles, beating out Andre Dillard.
