Takeaways from the Eagles unofficial depth chart for Week 1

We are just five days away from the start of the Philadelphia Eagles 2021 season, and some position battles are still up in the air. Nick Sirianni clarified Jalen Hurts and Jordan Mailata would be starters while positions like tight end were still unknown. Earlier today, Eagles PR released the unofficial depth chart for Sunday’s game, and not much has changed.
Eagles unofficial depth chart:

Looking at the offense, everything is as expected. The entire offensive line remains the same with Jalen Hurts under center, Miles Sanders in the backfield, and a receiving group of DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor, and Quez Watkins.
For tight end, both Goedert and Ertz were tied still for the starting job. Goedert has been working on an extension, but nothing has come to fruition so far. Landon Dickerson is listed as the backup center, so it looks like he is ready to go week one for the Eagles. The final note is Gardner Minshew is still the QB3 behind Joe Flacco.
Switching over to the defense, Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat are still tied for the starting defensive end spot. The remainder of the starters is what was expected, with Rodney McLeod ready to go at safety.
Keep in mind that these depth charts are created by the PR department, not the coaching staff. So none of these decisions are finalized by the coaching staff before being published and could change before Sunday’s opener against Atlanta.
