Carli Lloyd to play hometown farewell match in Philadelphia on October 6th

Soccer legend Carli Lloyd will make one last trip to Philadelphia before hanging up her cleats. Yesterday, the Philadelphia Union announced that Lloyd and her NWSL team, Gotham FC, would be playing the Washington Spirit at Subaru Park, the Union’s home field. Alongside this being one of Lloyd’s final games, it will also be the first NWSL game played in Philadelphia.
“I am beyond thankful to Gotham FC and the Philadelphia Union for making this happen,” said Gotham FC forward Carli Lloyd. “I have played many games at Subaru Park with the National Team and to have the opportunity to play in front of my home crowd on the club level will be an amazing memory. Let’s be loud and fill the stadium!”
The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6th at 7:00 and should be an excellent match for soccer fans. Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, with Washington sitting in 6th place and Gotham in 7th, just one point behind.
Carli Lloyd was born in Delran, New Jersey, and has been a staple of the US Women’s National Team for over a decade. Lloyd played for the United States from 2005 through this year, helping lead the country to a Bronze medal in Tokyo. Alongside her success on the pitch, Lloyd has been one of the critical members in helping Philadelphia be named a host site for the 2026 World Cup.
