New Shams update on Ben Simmons shows Daryl Morey, 76ers refusing to settle

New Ben Simmons update from Shams this morning. The report itself was nothing “breaking” but there were a few key points that shouldn’t be overlooked in the video.
As always, a quote for those at work:
“The 76ers front office, Doc Rivers, and agent Rich Paul have remained in dialogue about finding a way for Simmons to report back to Philadelphia. But so far Simmons has been resistant.”
Daryl Morey reportedly requested three first round picks, and three pick swaps in addition to CJ McCollum from Portland while in negotiations. Yes, that’s a huge haul but it shouldn’t come as any surprise. All negotiations should start out like that, even more so when talking about a player of Ben Simmons caliber.
Thank god we have Daryl Morey in our corner. Without him, who knows how this situation would have played out. Morey is basically telling other teams that the 76ers don’t want to trade Ben Simmons and they are more than happy to sit back and wait for what they want, rather than what Ben Simmons wants.
Yes, the Sixers will have to work through Shake Milton and Tyrese Maxey as their point guards until there is a resolution with Simmons, but that’s something they can afford to do until late December / early January. Going off this new report, Morey seems content in doing just that.
It’s pretty fascinating to witness in real time how badly Klutch Sports and Ben Simmons have handled this situation. Even with Ben Simmons moving all of his things out of Philadelphia, the 76ers have stood their ground and basically said the actions of Klutch and Ben Simmons are unacceptable, which is something we should all be thankful for.
Klutch Sports, and Ben Simmons started all of this by operating under the fact that Ben Simmons could possibly go to another team and have a change in scenery, which will allow him to be the player everyone expects him to be. Now? They have to convince another franchise that Ben Simmons is NOT a huge baby who has zero accountability and is willing to improve his game outside his comfort zone.
Talk about a tough situation to navigate. Of course, that’s something the 76ers have to work through as well. For now, they are doing the right thing and refusing to budge. Public perception is in the 76ers court. Ben Simmons is crashing and burning. Sit back and enjoy it.
