Allen Iverson delivers message to Ben Simmons via Twitter

Tomorrow is the day. The 76ers will return to practice after wrapping up their final preseason game against the Detroit Pistons Friday night. The season will begin Wednesday in New Orleans against the Pelicans, with the home opener coming on Friday against the Brooklyn Nets. Tomorrow is shaping up to be an interesting day for the 76ers, as Ben Simmons has cleared COVID-19 protocols and is eligible to return to the team for the first time.
Will Ben Simmons return? I would think so. There’s no reason at this point not to return to the 76ers. Why would he unexpectedly show up to the Wells Fargo Center last week if he wasn’t planning on rejoining the team? Even if you want to go “its all about the money” route, missing practice tomorrow would just cause more fines for Simmons, so there’s no reason to not show up.
From there, who knows what will happen. As far as we know, Simmons has spoken to Doc Rivers, Elton Brand, and Daryl Morey. It’s unclear if he has talked to his teammates yet. Tomorrow could possibly be their first interaction since last summer after Game 7 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Today on Twitter, Allen Iverson sent out a tweet, delivering a message to Ben Simmons.
“Follow Gods plan and execute Lil bro”. Well, I don’t know about you guys, but it sounds like Allen Iverson wants to execute Ben Simmons? Follow Gods plan. Execute lil bro. Picture of Ben Simmons. Maybe I’m reading that wrong? Anyways, Iverson then went on to tag the wrong Ben Simmons account, but as you’ll see in the comments, there are plenty of mentions of @BenSimmons25 to deliver the correct message. Is it possible that Allen Iverson was tweeting at this guy, who appears to be named Ben Simmons? I’m going to have to go with no. Imagine being this wine drinking Ben Simmons and all of the sudden your Twitter is exploding with notifications because Allen Iverson tweeted at you (lol).

***Iverson deleted his original tweet and reposted a new one on Sunday, shown above***
Iverson was vocal in an interview a few weeks ago about his desire to coach and join the 76ers organization in some capacity. It’s a request that the 76ers should have honored immediately. In the interview, although he did not mention Ben Simmons by name, it was clear that Iverson wanted to help Simmons through whatever he’s currently going through mentally. Here’s a clip of the interview. You can listen to the full interview here.
Tomorrow we will hopefully get some answers about what the hell has been going on with Ben Simmons. The 2021 NBA season kicks off this week and honestly, it can’t come soon enough.
