NBA Commissioner Adam Silver speaks on Ben Simmons situation

After all the chaos this morning, Commissioner Adam Silver spoke with Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN today about the ongoing situation. Silver is notorious for his wanting for competition in the NBA. Back in 2016, he forced Sam Hinkie out of Philadelphia and replaced him with the best basketball family in league history, the Colangelo’s. When asked about Ben Simmons, here is what Adam Silver had to say.

That sounds like a whole lot of nothing here. I’m not surprised that the NBA has yet to intervene with how good of a job Daryl Morey and Philadelphia have done. The 76ers refuse to bend the knee to Klutch while fining Ben Simmons for his refusal to join the team or show any effort.

If things continue, it’s likely the league could force some action, but there’s nothing more Adam Silver can do right now. The only other thing the NBA could do is place a ban on Simmons themselves or another massive course of action that isn’t likely at all.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier that the Sixers remain firm in waiting for the right trade for Simmons. After being suspended without pay for tomorrow’s season opener, there likely won’t be any resolution to this problem anytime soon.
