Joel Embiid listed as questionable for home opener against Nets

After taking an awkward fall last night, Joel Embiid is currently listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s home opener against the Brooklyn Nets. According to the team, the offical diagnosis is right knee soreness. Embiid was seen getting medical attention on his knee last night while he was on the bench but continued to play through it.
There will certainly be a concerted effort this season to decrease the amount of minutes Joel Embiid plays. If Embiid has a nagging injury it does make sense to play the long game and sit him out even if it is just a precaution. While this may just be the team looking towards the future, it would be slightly concerning if Embiid has to take a rest day in the second game of the season after only playing 25 minutes last night. This will definitely be something to keep an eye on throughout the season.
The addition of Andre Drummond should be able to help the team when Joel Embiid needs more time to recover. Drummond had a phenomenal 17 rebounds in just 19 minutes last night. The Sixers struggled when Dwight Howard had to start last season but it should be better this season being surrounded by shooters.
Ben Simmons (Not Injury Related) and Shake Milton (Ankle) are the only other two players that the Sixers have listed on the injury report for tomorrow. Brooklyn will be without Kyrie Irving as well. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow night on ESPN.
