76ers assign rookie Jaden Springer to Delaware Blue Coats

The Delaware Blue Coats will have another prominent figure joining them for training camp tomorrow. According to Keith Pompey, first-round pick Jaden Springer has been assigned to the Blue Coats for training camp. Springer has seen minimal time during the preseason and didn’t have a realistic chance of breaking into the rotation this season.

When Springer was drafted, he was considered a raw prospect due to his age. Jaden Springer turned 19 just a month ago and has high upside, but needs to be developed properly. Springer will be joining two-way wing Aaron Henry as well as Grant Riller when he recovers from his torn meniscus.

Alongside those three, the Blue Coats made a splash in yesterday’s G-League draft, selecting guards Shamorie Ponds first overall and Barra Njie in the second round. It is sure to be an exciting season for Delaware with a new coaching staff and roster in place. The Coats kick off their season in just a few weeks on November 6th.
