Rod Beard, Pistons beat writer, is now the frontrunner for worst NBA tweet this season

Last night, the Detroit Pistons were in town to face the 76ers, a game in which they lost 110-102. The game itself honestly wasn’t that close. Detroit finished the game on a 24-8 run where the Sixers failed to make a field goal in the last six minutes but were able to hold on nonetheless.
Joel Embiid, although batting a knee injury, absolutely dominated the Pistons. He casually put up 30 points and 18 rebounds in the win and closed things out with an almost improbable three pointer from a guy who’s 7’0 and 280lbs.
I was in attendance at the Wells Fargo Center last night to watch the 76ers play. The Pistons are a really bad team. When I finally got a chance to hop on Twitter after the game, I saw a tweet from Rod Beard. Rod Beard is a Pistons beat writer for The Detroit News and sent the following tweet during the game.
“Sixers Joel Embiid might not wanna mess with Pistons Josh Jackson. He put his hands on JJ, who slapped them away. Reminder: Sixers play in Detroit next week.”
Yikes. That tweet sucks. Let’s start with Josh Jackson and why he should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Joel Embiid. Jackson has played 244 games in the NBA. He averages 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over his career and is a 41.8% field goal shooter. Jackson, a small forward, shoots 29.7% from beyond the arc and 67.6% from the free throw line. Josh Jackson is absolute trash and a huge bust. He was taken 4th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2017 NBA draft and has disappointed team after team ever since, spending two years on Phoenix, a year in Memphis, and is now in his second year as a member of the lousy, winless Detroit Pistons.
Now, Rod Beard wants us to actually believe that a 6’8, 207lb Josh Jackson should not be messed with? By Joel Embiid? Who is this dude trying to fool? Ignoring the fact that Josh Jackson absolutely stinks, Embiid wouldn’t waste his time on him anyways. Maybe if he was 6’8 and 248lbs (and a good basketball player) like Karl Anthony Towns, Embiid would look his way. He’s clearly not one to take shit from anyone.
Why is everyone so clueless? These beat reporters say the dumbest things over and over again. I talked about some dork from Portland and his Deadspin article earlier today and just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, in comes Rod Beard talking nonsense. We haven’t even touched on the “reminder” part yet either.
What is the point of the reminder? Do people even watch the Pistons in the lifeless city of Detroit? Is Rod Beard suggesting that Embiid better watch his back when coming to Detroit to beat the crap out of the Pistons again next week? I have so many questions, but I know who won’t answer any of them.
That’s right, Rod Beard.
