Matt Murphy to make 76ers’ radio debut tonight against the Hawks

76ers fans will be hearing a new voice on the radio tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. Matt Murphy will be taking over as a fill-in for 76ers radio broadcaster Tom McGinnis on 97.5 The Fanatic, the home of the 76ers Radio Network. Murphy has been part of the Sixers’ organization for several years and has been a staple of the Delaware Blue Coats’ media team.

Tom McGinnis will take over for Kate Scott, and definitely deserves a shot on TV, having been the 76ers’ radio play-by-play guy for over 25 years. So far, the 76ers’ new voice in Kate Scott has been electric, and I’m sure Matt Murphy will do a good job too. Back in college, Murphy was the announcer for Fordham Basketball alongside Barstool’s Tommy Smokes.

Kate Scott will be doing the Louisville vs NC State game, which is why she’s out tonight.

I’ve met Matt before, and he is a genuinely great person, so it’s great to see him continue to work his way up the ladder. There’s no better game to make your debut for, with the 76ers facing the Hawks for the first time since game seven last season. Tip-off tonight is scheduled for 7:30, and alongside 97.5, you can tune in through NBC Sports Philadelphia.
