Finally, it’s time for more Flyers hockey; Maple Leafs @ Flyers Preview

Finally, it’s time for more Flyers hockey. 3 days after beating Washington 2-1, Philadelphia returns home to go up against Wayne Simmonds and the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:30 on NBC Sports Philadelphia. The Leafs are currently 7-5-1 on the season but have started to pick it up, going 4-1 in their last 5 games.
Carter Hart gets the nod tonight after Martin Jones went against Washington, saving 31 of 32. Hart currently holds a 3-2-2 record with a 2.41 GAA and a .926 SV% Goaltending has been the big story so far this season, with Martin Jones currently sitting first in the NHL in SV% with a .950%. I know it’s a small sample size (3 games), especially compared to the goalies he’s in-front of, but getting that kind of goaltending from your backup to start the season is a huge reason why Philly is currently 5-2-2.
We all know the talent Toronto has in Matthews, Marner, Reilly, Nylander & Tavares. With how dominant they’ve been on their recent stretch, it’s going to be a tough matchup for the Flyers. Luckily, Philadelphia has the home ice advantage tonight. Toronto is just 1-3 on the road this season while the Flyers are 3-1-1.
With the Flyers on the upswing with players returning to the ice, I have a good feeling they’ll keep up their recent level of play and bring home a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. If you’re looking to bet tonight, our partners over at Parx Sportsbook have a great boost for the Flyers to score first and win (Boosted from +195 to +250)
Prediction: Flyers 3 – Toronto 1
