Joel Embiid begins return from COVID-19, could play this weekend

It looks like the 76ers’ COVID curse is almost over. Just now, John Clark reported that Joel Embiid is at the team’s practice facility, ramping up for a return, and is expected to return around this Saturday. Embiid first tested positive exactly two weeks ago and is the final Sixer to return from health and safety protocols.
Joel Embiid’s personal trainer, Drew Hanlen, tweeted earlier today that he was headed back to Philly, confirming Clark’s report. Without Embiid, the 76ers have been alright but desperately need him after a recent string of losses.
Due to positive tests, Philadelphia has missed Embiid, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Isaiah Joe over the last few weeks. Since then, everyone has slowly returned and helped bolster the team’s depth.
Before his return, the 76ers face the Sacramento Kings tonight, who just fired their head coach, and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. After that, the 76ers are back home Saturday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
