Yam’s 76er of the Week

The 76er of Week series has been dominated by Tyrese Maxey so far, and in all honesty, he deserves the award again this week — but that would be no fun.
During this stretch of late-night games without Joel Embiid, it has been a struggle to find happiness within the darkness that has plagued the fans over the last two weeks. We found solitude in Maxey, even a little bit in Georges Niang, but it has been an uphill battle.
There has been one more bright spot, and a surprising one at that: our newest Sixer of the Week:
Bassey, better known as C Bass, came into this season having missed the Summer League due to contract disputes and no indication of getting any minutes. We briefly saw him in the preseason, but it wasn’t nearly enough to get an idea of how this kid plays.
Philadelphia has been searching for life at the backup big man spot with Drummond running with the starters, and Charles Bassey has shown that he can fill in that spot. Bassey is the most fluid big man that the Sixers have.
He has incredible footwork in the pick-and-roll and is another relentless, high-energy player to add to the young core of this team. His breakout game came against the Denver Nuggets, where he scored 12 points and played respectful defense against the league’s reigning MVP.
Bassey has a chance to find scattered minutes throughout this season, and if he builds on this foundation, we could have another exciting young player on the horizon.
