The Return: Morgan Frost will join Flyers in Florida

According to Elliotte Friedman on twitter, the Flyers are calling up their top prospect, Morgan Frost. Frost has been in the AHL with the Phantoms since the beginning of the year, and has scored 15 points in 16 games.
Last night, Derick Brassard left and never returned about 2 minutes into the game. We got some word during period that he was questionable to return, but he never did. The Flyers are already without Kevin Hayes, who suffered a re-injury his 2nd game back in the line up. We still don’t have word on just how serious Brassard’s injury is, but with Frost now a Flyer, I think it’s safe to assume he’s not playing tonight.
The Flyers offense has been abysmal to put it nicely. In the last 7 games, they have scored 1.55 goals a game, while making Hart face 33.8 shots. Last night was genuinely one of the worst hockey games I think I’ve ever watched. This is no shot at Zack MacEwen, but when he’s your best player, you have a problem.
Morgan Frost has been on absolute fire in the AHL lately. In his last 10 games, he has 13 points (3G, 10A). His confidence took a hit from being sent down to the AHL at the beginning of the season, but ever since the 2nd game he’s easily been their best player.
Frost was able to put up points in the AHL on a really bad 3-8-5 Phantoms team. I’m looking forward to see what Morgan Frost can do surrounded by more skilled players. The Flyers play the Panthers tonight at 7pm, in the same arena Frost made his NHL debut.
We all know what happened in that game, right?
I have to throw in the fact that Morgan is a completely different player now than what he was when he scored that goal. Not only has his defensive and two-way game immensely improved, but he’s at an all-time high right now in confidence. I’m not saying he’s going to come here and take over the NHL, but he’s their best option at infusing a highly skilled player into a lineup that can’t create anything right now.
Welcome back to the show, Morgan Frost.
