Phillies add reliever, DFA Roman Quinn to make room on 40-man roster

As we all sit around for any type of free agent signings from the Philadelphia Phillies, we did get some type of news from the ball club minutes ago on Twitter. The Phillies have claimed RHP Yoan López off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. To make room on the 40-man roster, OF Roman Quinn was designated for assignment.
Roman Quinn battled injuries throughout his career with the Phillies. Since 2016, Quinn appeared in 178 games for the Fightins’, batting .228 with 41 RBI and eight home runs.
The Phillies have continuously struggled to find an everyday centerfielder over the last few years and it was clear as day that Roman Quinn was not the answer.
As for Yoan López, he’s hardly someone to write home about. The 28 year old was DFA’d by the Atlanta Braves and only appeared in the MLB as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Over four years with the D-Backs, he appeared in 113 games with a 4.25 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP.
Boring news from the Phillies as they are currently the only National League East team to not tap the free agent market so far this offseason.
Bring me Nick Castellanos, Kris Bryant, and a few competent bullpen arms please.Â
