Union add 3 players to roster ahead of Eastern Conference Final battle

The Philadelphia Union have announced today that they have added three players to the active roster ahead of their Eastern Conference final match against NYCFC. They have signed Brandon Craig, Anton Sorenson, and goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh. This news comes following the unfortunate COVID-19 outbreak into the club. Eleven players have entered the health and safety protocols this week, leaving Jim Curtin with difficult decisions. Here’s the official press release from the club.
“Philadelphia Union today announced they have signed Brandan Craig and Anton Sorenson to short-term agreements due to Extreme Hardships, making them available for the club’s match in the Eastern Conference Finals vs. New York City FC. Additionally, the club has added league pool goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh to their roster. The club’s current number of players in health and safety protocol have made them eligible for Extreme Hardship”
Brandon Craig is a 20-year-old homegrown player who signed a pre-contract with the Union in November. Craig made 14 appearances and 11 starts for Philadelphia Union II as an amateur, scoring one goal.
Anton Sorenson joined the Union Academy in 2019 and was one of the standouts for Union II, where he had a goal and an assist in 12 appearances. Greg Ranjitsingh signed with the club back in April but has yet to make an appearance. If Blake and Bendik can’t play, Matt Freese will be in goal with Ranjitsingh as his backup.
