Rumor: 76ers not interested in Portland’s offer for Ben Simmons

Although some were intrigued by the potential offer from the Portland Trail Blazers for Ben Simmons, the 76ers will still hold off. Recently, Kyle Neubeck reported that 76ers’ officials have had no recent discussions of a deal centering around CJ McCollum and have no interest in that trade. This announcement follows in suit with the idea of Daryl Morey wanting a star in exchange for Ben Simmons.
“A source familiar with the situation spoke to PhillyVoice on Monday evening and said the Sixers have had no recent discussions with Portland regarding a CJ McCollum trade, and a package centered around the Blazers’ guard is not currently of interest to the Sixers.”
The Athletic reported that former Blazers GM Neil Olshey offered McCollum, one of their young players like Anfernee Simons, and a draft pick for Simmons. They also stated that Damian Lillard wants to team up with Ben Simmons in Portland, but no deal seems possible with the current situation.Â
While McCollum would be a nice boost, for now, it would barely help the Sixers in their playoff pursuit, and the team is better off waiting for a star to demand out. In the meantime, the 76ers continue playing without Simmons, going up against the Charlotte Hornets once again tomorrow night.
