Connauton has zero points in 13 games so far this season and only has one point since 2018-19. His playing time has been minimal since leaving Arizona in which he saw some success under Rick Tocchet.

This is clearly an effort from Chuck Fletcher to try and add any sort of depth to the back end. Nick Seeler bouncing up and down the lineup can only work for so long before it burns you. Connauton obviously isn’t going to come in here and quarterback a powerplay, this is simply a depth move to gain an extra player for Yeo to work with.
Connauton is known for his skating and having a bomb of a shot. He’s going to be slotted into a 6th-7th defenseman spot and it will be interesting to see when Yeo slots him in.
