Flyers walkoff Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime

The Flyers took on the Ottawa Senators in a rollercoaster of a game in Philadelphia and won 4-3 in overtime. Oskar Lindblom put together his best game to date and Joel Farabee scored a huge goal in his return. Martin Jones got the start in goal due to Carter Hart missing the game with an undisclosed illness.

The Flyers’ starting lineup:

The first period was one of the best I’ve seen out of the Flyers’ all year. They dominated puck possession and had a pair of goals to show for it.

Lindblom wrapped a pass out to Giroux who promptly finished it for an early 1-0 lead.

Oskar Lindblom was flying all over the Wells Fargo Center and logged what is most likely his best game and period to date. He fired a one-timer that went of Ottawa defenseman Thomas Chabot to make it 2-0.

The Senators didn’t log a shot until 15 minutes into the first frame when Philadelphia already had 2 goals and 10 shots. One of the most impressive periods I’ve seen from this group in a while.

Ottawa put that lackluster start behind them and gave it the Flyers in the second. They quickly tied the game on the penalty kill off a couple brutal turnovers from Keith Yandle.

Zack MacEwen noticed the momentum slipping and tried to turn the tide with a fight. He followed the fight up with an electric fist-pump beckoning the crowd, and it was lovely.

Ottawa took the lead with five minutes remaining in the game and it felt like the match was over, but shortly after Joel Farabee sent a shot towards the net and it found its way by Forsberg to tie the game and force overtime.

Atkinson got a loose puck in overtime and gave Travis Sanheim a tap-in to end the game. Huge win and what an electric finish to a wild game to capture two points.
