The Jalen Hurts Revenge Game: Eagles-Giants Preview, Odds, and Predictions

Last Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Washington Football Team in South Philadelphia. Today, they are back on a quick turnaround time to face the 4-10 New York Giants.
The Giants have lost three straight games. Their most recent win was when they embarrassed the Eagles at MetLife Stadium in Week 12. Everything went wrong last time around for the Eagles. Jalen Hurts had his worst game of his career and threw three interceptions, only completing 45% of this throws.
However, one thing did remain in tact. The Eagles rushed for over 200 yards on the ground and honestly had a chance to win the game in the closing minutes but we all know what happened then, (thanks Jalen Reagor).
Jake Fromm in, Daniel Jones out.
New York will be without some of their key players today with the most notable absence being quarterback Daniel Jones, who is on injured reserve with a neck injury. Starting in his place is Jake Fromm, who saw his first playing time late in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys last weekend.
Fromm shouldn’t pose much, (if any) threat to the birds defense this afternoon. Garrett Gilbert had an okay performance, but expect Jonathan Gannon to game plan Fromm like Jones. Force Fromm to make short throws and blitz the living hell out of him. As Gannon often does, limit any big plays from the Giants offense today. He did a fine job against the Giants last time, with the loss primarily falling on the Eagles’ inability to produce on offense.
Run the damn ball
The title speaks for itself, and the Eagles have been doing just that. They are the first team since the 1985 Chicago Bears to rush for 175+ yards in seven straight appearances. The Eagles are by far the best rushing offense in the league this season and should continue to expand their league after today’s game.
COVID-19 // Injury List
There won’t be too many notable absences this time around. Nick Sirianni tested negative for COVID-19 yesterday and is cleared to return alongside rookie guard Landon Dickerson. However, Shaun Bradley, Andre Dillard, Ryan Kerrigan (yes he’s on the Eagles), and Le’Raven Clark remain out. Being without those four shouldn’t affect today’s game against New York, but it’s something to watch.
Playoffs?!
Today’s game is big. A win or loss could potentially decide the Eagles playoff hopes. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Eagles’ odds shoot up to 52% with a win. With a loss, their playoff hopes sit at only 12%.
FiveThirtyEight also said Hillary Clinton was a lock in 2016, so honestly, anything is possible regardless of the odds.
Odds via Parx Sportsbook:
TEAM | SPREAD | MONEYLINE | TOTAL |
Eagles | -10 (-113) | -500 | O 40.5 (-114) |
Giants | +10 (-108) | +375 | U 40.5 (-107) |
The Birds barely lost last time around and again, they still had an opportunity to win the game in the final minute. New York is without their starting quarterback, and Philadelphia gets better with each passing week.
It should be an easy victory if they have just an average game on offense today and don’t turn the ball over. If last week’s game taught us anything, you shouldn’t take your opponent too lightly.
We’re going to have a vintage Jalen Hurts revenge game. Book it.
Prediction: Eagles 24 – Giants 10
