4 Eagles named to PFF’s Team of the Week after victory over Giants

The Eagles’ defense balled out during yesterday’s victory over the New York Giants and are now being rewarded for it. Linebacker T.J. Edwards, defensive lineman Josh Sweat, and cornerback Darius Slay were named to PFF’s Team of the Week for their Week 16 performances. Landon Dickerson was selected after shutting down the Giants’ defensive line.
Edwards had nine tackles and allowed just three receptions for 12 yards on the day. Sweat was the highest-graded defender this week with a 92.4. The Eagles’ defensive lineman had four pressures, resulting in a sack and forced fumble. Philadelphia sent tons of pressure at Jake Fromm yesterday, and Sweat was the main reason for their success.
Slay was phenomenal at cornerback, highlighted by a near interception that was dropped. The Pro Bowl corner was targeted three times but didn’t allow a single reception the entire day. It was another dominant performance from Slay, who continues to prove he is arguably the best cornerback in recent memory for Philadelphia.
Dickerson rebounded quickly after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list before their game against Washington last week. Dickerson didn’t allow a single pressure or quarterback hit on Jalen Hurts, posting an 88 pass-blocking grade, his best this season.
The Eagles were the only team to have multiple players, let alone three on the defensive Team of the Week. They were joined by names like Aaron Donald and Maxx Crosby. Dickerson was joined by Creed Humphrey and La’el Collins on the offensive line.
Hopefully, this group can continue their success next Sunday against the Washington Football Team in a crucial battle for playoff positioning.
