Eagles activate two players from COVID-19 list, lose rookie Landon Dickerson

Earlier today, we brought you another COVID update from the Washington Football Team. On Saturday, Washington activated Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat, Casey Toohill and James Smith-Williams from their COVID-19 list. Today, the Washington Football Team activated WR Cam Sims and DE Daniel Wise off its Reserve/COVID List.
At the time, Drew Smith questioned whether or not today’s game should have been postponed in the first place, with the WFT’s COVID list shrinking from an astounding 23 players down to 16 players before noon. He also mentioned that it would be brutal for the Eagles to lose players before Tuesday’s game.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has happened.
The Eagles announced today that they would be activating wide receiver Quez Watkins and running back Jason Huntley from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Watkins and Huntley were the only two on the list at that time, but as predicted, that has now changed and OL Landon Dickerson will now be added to the list.
According to a team announcement, rookie guard Landon Dickerson has just been added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Since their game is just two days away, it’s almost certain that Dickerson will be inactive for the team. Now there’s worry that others could test positive in the next 24 hours, especially on the offensive line.
Losing Dickerson is a brutal blow, as he now joins Brandon Brooks, Isaac Seumalo, and Jack Driscoll as the Eagles’ inactive guards. Starting in his place will likely be Sua Opeta, with Jack Anderson still returning from injured reserve. Anderson was placed in the 21-day practice window, but it’s unknown if he will be ready by Tuesday.
Opeta has shown promise but will have a tough challenge after Washington gained back most of their defensive line yesterday. Having Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata on each side of him should also help Opeta succeed at left guard.
Philadelphia also just released their injury report today, and it remains the same as it has the last few days. Nine players were listed alongside Dickerson, but all nine were full participants in practice this afternoon.
