Jalen Reagor called his shot before breaking a 39-yard punt return against the Giants

What a turnaround it has been for Jalen Reagor. Okay fine, to be fair, we shouldn’t go there quite yet, but we have seen some flashes of what we all expect from the Eagles’ first round pick. Any progress is good progress at this point, and it finally seems like the young wide receiver is taking some steps in the right direction.
Reagor has been a recipient of constant “boos” from Eagles fans over the last few weeks. This all dated back to when he dropped back-to-back passes in the closing moments of the Giants game in Week 12. Ever since then, Reagor has received boos during player introductions as well as every time he lines up to field punts.
Jalen Reagor 39-Yard Punt Return
Last Sunday, Reagor ripped off a 39-yard punt return and sparked an Eagles offensive explosion in the second half. While it doesn’t happen as frequently as Eagles fans would like, at least it came when the team needed a jolt.
These are the types of plays Reagor is capable of and what the Eagles fan base expects from him on a week-by-week basis. That punt return was a huge part of the Eagles 31-7 run in the second half against the Giants to keep them in the playoff hunt.
I absolutely love seeing this from Jalen Reagor, a player who seemed to lose all confidence after his Week 12 performance. It’s nice to see that he still believes in himself, and I guarantee he heard the reaction from Eagles’ fans inside Lincoln Financial Field after the return.
As someone who keeps getting compared to Nelson Agholor due to his lack of development early on, maybe there’s a chance that Reagor is simply a late bloomer? It wasn’t until Agholor’s third season when he started to really make a name for himself after two disastrous seasons, similar to Reagor.
Regardless of how you feel about Reagor, the Eagles used a first round pick on him. They are not going to cut him or just let him walk after a few years. The birds should, and will, try everything they can to utilize and develop him into the player they thought they drafted.
Reagor is starting to show some growth. In back-to-back weeks Reagor has had a 30+ yard plays, showing how explosive he can be. One of them being a tunnel screen he took 34 yards, and the most recent being his 39 yard punt return.
