Joel Embiid to Tyrese Maxey: “You were trash tonight”
Last night, the Philadelphia 76ers escaped Toronto with a 114-109 victory. Joel Embiid dominated throughout the game, scoring 36 points in 34 minutes of action.
Tobias Harris also notched his first career triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Georges Niang also scored 19 points off the bench, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. The Sixers moved to 18-16 on the season, with a game in Brooklyn on Thursday night to close out 2021.
After the game, Tyrese Maxey joined Joel Embiid as they spoke with the media.
Joel Embiid told Tyrese Maxey he was trash. Maxey went 2-for-11 from the floor and 1-for-4 from beyond the arc for a miserable 5 points in the game. Luckily the Sixers didn’t need him with Niang and Harris both stepping up to help out Embiid.
Credit to Maxey as well for saying “let’s talk about the last time you were here” in reference to a game a few years back when Embiid scored zero points against the Raptors, and then laughed about how he air balled twice.
Rich Paul is probably mad at his client is having so much fun with Joel Embiid while his other client and former starting point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons is still at home refusing to play basketball.
Make sure you save this post too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Klutch Sports brought this up later this year or in years to come as a reference of why Tyrese Maxey would be better off playing somewhere else because Joel Embiid called him “trash”.
Regardless, when the 76ers are winning and Joel Embiid is happy and joking around with his teammates, that’s a beautiful sight to see. The Sixers are back in action tomorrow night against the Brooklyn Nets.
