Preview: The Clippers’ Skeleton Crew is in South Philly tonight to face Embiid and the 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are back in action tonight in South Philadelphia, facing off against Doc Rivers’ old team, the Los Angeles Clippers.
Injury Updates
The Sixers are catching another team dealing with injuries. The Clippers will come to Philly without Paul George (elbow) and Kawhi Leonard (knee). On the season, the Clippers are 22-24 and 7-12 on the road.
At 26-18, the 76ers currently find themselves in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are only 2.5 games out of first place and have won 8 out of their last 10 games.
Tonight, the Sixers will be without Danny Green (hip), Shake Milton (back), Matisse Thybulle (shoulder), and Ben Simmons (baby). Paul Reed and Jaden Springer are also out, with both players on assignment in the G League.
JOEL EMVPIID
Of course, the talk of the city is Joel Embiid and how dominant he has been on the basketball court over the past two months. Joel Embiid is literally unstoppable right now and I don’t see the Los Angeles Clippers skeleton crew slowing him down tonight.
Last game against the Magic, Embiid tied career highs in both points (50) and field goals made (17). Joel dismantled the Orlando Magic in just 27 minutes of action, scoring 50 points and adding 12 rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and a steal to the stat card. Embiid was 17-23 from the floor and 15-17 from the charity stripe.
CONSISTENT SUPPORT
I sound like a broken record, but the supporting cast for the 76ers are always going to be a key component of any game moving forward. It’s a given that Embiid will dominate on any given night, but consistency from Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, and Tyrese Maxey will make things much easier to win basketball games.
Harris played well against the Magic, scoring 21 points on an efficient 8-13 shooting from the floor. Seth Curry had a quiet game against the Magic, scoring only five points on 2-of-7 shooting. Maxey was fine. He scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting while knocking down 2-of-3 shots from beyond the arc.

You have to like the Sixers tonight against a shell version of the Los Angeles Clippers. I’m well aware that the 76ers have a bad habit of playing down to their opponents but I fully expect them to cover the 8.5 points and send us into the weekend winners.
