Last night on Twitter, Joel Embiid tweeted a picture of Charmin Ultra Soft toilet paper and sent Twitter into an absolute frenzy. The immediate reaction was that Embiid was tweeting this in regards to Ben Simmons, who for obvious reasons, can be easily associated with something called “Ultra Soft.”

However, there was other reasons why Embiid would have taken to twitter with a picture of toilet paper.

My immediate reaction was the fact that Real Madrid lost to Copa del Ray yesterday 1-0. Embiid is a huge soccer guy and a big fan of Real Madrid. What appears to be the case, is that the tweet was in reference to the African Cup of Nations semifinal between his native Cameroon and Egypt.

Yesterdays match between Cameroon and Egypt went into penalty kicks and ended up losing the match after missing three straight attempts. The follow up tweets from Embiid confirmed the fact that it was about Cameroon.

Cameroon is hosting the AFCON this year and this match was played in Embiid’s hometown of Yaounde. He obviously was pissed about the performance so it makes perfect sense.

Honestly, I don’t even think Embiid cares or thinks about Ben Simmons anymore. He’s currently first in NBA MVP rankings and the 76ers are a game out of first place in the Eastern Conference standings. Embiid entered February, winning back-to-back NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month Awards and has been absolutely destroying opponents on a nightly basis.

Besides the “I’m not here to babysit” comments during preseason workouts, Embiid has been relatively supportive of Ben Simmons and has said time and time again that Simmons would make the 76ers better.

It is hard to not think that his tweets and numerous comments after Sixers’ games aren’t subtle shots at Simmons. He told Tyrese Maxey he was horrible after the Raptors game. He then told Maxey “that’s how you respond to criticism” after he lit up the Brooklyn Nets.

From there, he told Matisse Thybulle to shoot more threes and has made more than a few comments about how the Sixers don’t need to make any moves before the trade deadline.

Plus, when your Twitter name is Joel “Troel” Embiid and you have an All-Star point guard that you were paired with to win multiple NBA championships who now refuses to play basketball, of course that relation is going to be made.

Who knows if there’s a double-meaning. I highly doubt it. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid are making Ben Simmons more and more irrelevant with each passing game.
