Danny Green claims 76ers players sometimes don’t understand Doc Rivers’ plays

Danny Green loves talking about things he probably shouldn’t be talking about on his podcast, Inside the Green Room. We were given another example of this late last week, when Green had Tyrese Maxey join him for an emergency episode after the 76ers signed James Harden.
Green commented about head coach Doc Rivers and how the team runs sets and pre-planned plays, but have trouble remembering what those plays are on a consistent basis.
Rivers reportedly draws up complex plays that take the duration of a timeout, and on multiple occasions, players forget their roles by the time they take the court again. Green mentions one specific instance where he and Tobias Harris looked at each other thoroughly confused, neither knowing what to do.
The clip was tweeted by Inside the Green Room to promote the podcast, but interestingly enough, it has since been deleted. I would have deleted it as well, or ya know, just not post it in the first place. There have been countless questions about Doc Rivers coaching abilities and that certainly doesn’t shed a positive light his ability to draw up plays out of a timeout.
Also for Danny Green and Tobias Harris, two veterans, to be confused about play calling, no matter how confusing it might be at times, is certainly not something to discuss on a podcast either.
If anything, the clip actually paints Doc Rivers in better light, and the players as the idiots, right?
I guess Danny Green and company were trying to make a joke? That’s the only logical explanation. Problem is, it wasn’t a good joke and no one would find it funny given the at times, coaching issues they seem to endure during basketball games.
Danny Green loves to say all types of stuff on his podcast. He’s an old guy at the end of his basketball career and now just lets whatever he wants slip out behind a microphone. I kinda respect it. It’s like coasting through work when you already put your 2-weeks in.
Regardless, none of this matters anymore. James Harden will be on the court for the Philadelphia 76ers next week and we can focus on a second half run and get ready for the NBA playoffs.
