Viva la Mexico? The Eagles could be playing south of the border in 2022

There’s a chance the Eagles could be heading abroad in 2022. Earlier this morning, the NFL revealed the five home teams for their International Series, one of which is the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles are scheduled to play the Cardinals on the road this season, so the two could be battling it out in Mexico City.
Arizona has nine home games this season, but two of them are against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints. Both the Saints and Bucs are hosting their own international games, so the NFL won’t have them play in two this season. This means the Eagles have a 1 in 7 chance to play in Mexico this season.
The last time Philly played in a game outside the US was in 2018 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The Eagles won the game 24-18 over the Jags, and it was definitely a unique experience. Getting up for an Eagles game that started at 9:30 made it feel like we were on the west coast, and I’m glad it was a one-off occurrence.
Philadelphia actually played in Mexico before back in 1978 for a pre-season game against the Saints. It was a mess with nothing set up properly, and the NFL actually had to cancel their previous Mexico game in 2018 because the field wasn’t safe to play on.
It’s unknown when the road teams will be announced, but it’ll likely come when the NFL reveals the full 2022 schedule later this off-season.
