Top NFL analyst continues to link Deshaun Watson to Eagles

While the Eagles continue to interview the top quarterback prospects at the NFL Combine, one NFL analyst continues to link them to one of the top QBs in the trade market. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has placed the Eagles amongst the top suitors for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson numerous times in the last week.
This is what Breer had to say on Wednesday about Watson’s future:
“As for who he lands with, the Broncos and Eagles are two teams that I believe would make strong bids, depending on how a few other things play out (the availability of Rodgers and Russell Wilson, etc.). I’d think the Panthers will try to reenter the picture too, and it’s hard to rule out a dark horse or two (Cleveland? Tampa?) for getting involved. We should know more soon enough.”
Then on Friday, he followed it up with this.
“Those in the league continue to connect Deshaun Watson to the Eagles and Broncos. Obviously, clarity with Watson’s legal situation would help (and further bolster the market for him), but the football people in those two places are positioned to strike if the right deal is there. Philly owner Jeffrey Lurie has consistently been willing to take players with baggage, and Denver doesn’t have an owner right now.”
The Eagles have been linked to Watson for over the last season and have been willing to send a lucrative package to the Texans for him. However, Watson has a no-trade clause and said he was unwilling to go to Philly.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks have turned down multiple first-round picks from the Commanders for Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers could be staying in Green Bay. If the Eagles want to upgrade through a trade, Watson seems to be the only option.
Between the allegations and the rise of Jalen Hurts, pushing all of your draft capital for Watson at this time is insane. Philadelphia has three first-round picks, and Houston has made it clear they would need all of them to get a deal done.
Howie Roseman has publicly declared Hurts as their guy numerous times, so let’s hope he’s actually stating the truth for once.
