Flyers vs Predators Preview: Claude Giroux laces up the skates for Game 1,000

The Philadelphia Flyers (18-30-11) welcome the Nashville Predators (35-21-4) to town tonight. Flyers legend Claude Giroux will play his 1,000th game with the team at 7:00 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Flyers to honor Claude Giroux and his family
Claude Giroux’s go-to meal before every hockey game throughout his career has been a grilled cheese (I mean cmon, who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese). Wells Fargo Center will be selling grilled cheese sandwiches throughout the stadium for just a small cost of $28 per sandwich.
Flyers players will also honor Giroux pregame by wearing black #28 jerseys during warmups. Giroux has been the face of the Flyers for his whole career, and it’s only right that the whole team honors him with a jersey during pregame shoot-around. Claude and his wife will be honored by the Flyers organization pre-game, for their contributions to the team and the city of Philadelphia.

There’s a lot of speculation about Giroux’s future in Philadelphia. The NHL Trade Deadline takes place on March 21st, and it seems like the Flyers legend will be leaving the team. Owen Tippett is a name being thrown around a lot as a potential return piece in a Giroux deal, from the Florida Panthers. He was pulled from the lineup tonight, potentially being held out by the Panthers organization.
Here’s how tonight’s lines will look for the Flyers
Frost – Giroux – Konecny
JVR – Brassard – Atkinson
Lindblom – Hayes – Farabee
Willman – Brown – MacEwen
Provorov – York
Sanheim – Ristolainen
Yandle – Braun
Carter Hart
*Cam York will play on his off-side on the 1st pairing with Provorov*
This Flyers season has been nothing short of a disappointment, but tonight is about our Captain. The Flyers will look to win their first game in over a week, as Claude Giroux will lace up for what could be his last game in Philadelphia.
Prediction: Flyers win 3-2, Claude Giroux nets a goal
